Laplace’s Demon: An Ancient L That Demonises The Past

In Hell, math never takes an L.

Laplace resides between two realms in the secular world. The first lives within the absolute value of Calculus. A cursive L that ushers a period of transformation.

Depending on perspective, this may be considered in direct contrast to the more familiar exposition of knowledge regarding the personified depiction.

Pierre-Simon Laplace propounded a notion of the future being entirely determined by the past. In effect, the past repeats itself, thereby leaving the future helpless to break the cycle.

Through juxtaposition, this realm is somewhat incompatible with the more objective former. There is little transformation implied in Laplace’s theory, analogised to the esoteric symbol.

The symbol might be a tangible measure of reason, courtesy of the atheistic apotheosis of science, but this theory is too arcane, even for the notably abstract study of Calculus, to calculate a definitive sum or product.

Time is beyond calculation.

Flowing in only one direction.

Forward.

As such, there is no relying on past figures to solve ageless quandaries of the future. The present is disqualified from equation on the basis of this fluid progression. There is no pause in the procession.

Time is an endless rhythm.

An imperishable beat.

An immortal soul.

Laplace’s demon is defenceless against it. Time deforms the hands of every clock against the glass into the mirror of an exorcism. The demon can fight against itself, but can never destroy its own reflection, a sensitive daguerreotype of self-preservation.

To save its reputation as a fearsome entity, it hides behind a theory. Possessed by a metaphysician who can cage it with the comforts of secular existence. The present, unlike that vicious cycle of past and future, mimics the demon’s chaotic nature.

Thus, it finds home within the laboured Latin of transformation, unfettered by the limitless deceptions of time.

Unleashed by the void of an owner who is determined to be omnipresent and unkind.
